Sheldon Avenue : Beautiful Cascading House By Belsize Architects

Designed by Belsize Architects, Sheldon Avenue replaced an existing 1960’s house with trasparent house concept. The rear elevation features a cascading glass roof and glass floors allowing views through all floors. This result in a light basement pool area which extends on thr lower garden area.

The basement was constructed using reinforced concrete box designed to deal with hydrostatic pressures caused by ground water. In order to avoid up lift the building had to be pilled to tie the building into the ground. The superstructure is a steel frame with in-situ concrete floors and non lead bearing masonry walls between.

The stairs are constructed extensively from glass with glass treads and balustrades supporting elegantly detailed stringers.
