EROTIC FIGURE

A series of erotic figurines by American artist Jessica Lichtenstein is on show at Gallery Nine5 in New York (The exhibition continues until 15 February.). Called Undressed, the installation displays over 25 semi-nude female characters in a range of scenarios from serving food, to sitting on the toilet, to fighting off miniature soldiers. “I love looking at the way women have been depicted from classic times to modern times- from Botticelli’s rotund figures, to Fragonard’s playful yet overly ornate figures, to Ingre’s elongated Odalisque, to Picasso’s abstract sharpest patterns. They all show one theme- women and their sexuality- yet it is expressed in so many different styles” , Jessica said. Japanese manga and anime are strong influences on Lichtenstein’s work and serve as vital conduits in her exploration of ‘twisted’ childhoods and lost innocence. The art stuff look so sexy, comical as well as amusing and could be a point of interest of your room. Here are some collections:

OPEN VERANDA

Designed by Calgary-based Sturgess Architecture, this wood country home on Bowen Island faces north on a steep cliff overlooking Howe Sound, surrounded by nature with water at its feet 100m below. This timber home design was made for a couple and their two children, visitors and extended family, divided as a primary residence and guest house which are linked under one roof. But, things that stand out from this house is the open Veranda design, which can maximize the surrounding landscape and make the building blend with its surroundings. An elongated bowtie plan maximizes the aperture of glazing and view to the North, while on approach from the South, only the roof marks its presence in the landscape. Naturally finished slate, cedar shingles and copper coloured roof denote a building that challenges with form yet eases itself into the coastal context. Read More

Funky Sofa

The Asami Light Sofa comes from Colico, a company with an important design history, founded in 1920. The first thing that comes to my mind when looking at these photos, is an unforgettable movie-marathon night with friends and a cool home theater system. A little problem might be handling the remote controls, because this item has its own and they just might be one too many. The light colors can be adapted to the mood of the place and of the owner, by a simple push of a button. In the dark, the Asami Light Sofa looks like a real treat. However, the slick design makes them a beautiful asset for the day as well. Read More
